Awakening

Can I ever be “woke”?

No. I can’t arrive. I cannot be finished the journey of learning, growing, and healing. Of becoming more aware of myself and what informs my assumptions, thought patterns, and decisions. I cannot be finished acknowledging and righting the wrongs of oppression that I benefit from. That I have participated in upholding. I cannot arrive at the end, at the finish line, of being awakened and achieving “wokeness”.

I will forever be awakening, never woke.
